i) Fibre- This is a hair-like unit of raw material or unit of matter used to make fabric for example plant fibres eg. cotton Animal fibres eg. wool and silk , Artificial fibres eg. polyester and acetate rayon etc.

ii) Yarn- This is a continuous strand of fibres grouped, spun, twisted or weaved together and made into fabric.

iii) Filament yarn- This is twisted fibres that are long and continuous creating a lustrous yarn.

iv) Staple fibre- This are twisted fibre that are short and hairy
