
(a) The magnificent mountain scenery of the Alps with a large variety of Mountain peaks, slopes with reliable snowfields, hanging valleys and waterfalls. The peaks are attractive to climbers and the slopes for winter sports such as ice skating.
(b) Numerous glaciated lakes which have clean, fresh, blue water which are ideal for sport fishing, boating and swimming during summer.
(c) The southern most region bordering Italy has a Mediterranean climate with warmer summers. In general, summers are warm and sunny with clear blue skies. This kind of weather is suitable for viewing the magnificent scenery of snow capped mountain peaks, the clear blue lakes, the cascading waterfalls suitable for swimming and sunbathing. During winter there is abundant snow on the mountain slopes for winter sports.
(d) Numerous rivers which are fed by the melting snow from mountains. These rivers have been harnessed to produce hydroelectric power which is widely used in various units of carriage such as trains, ski lifts and cable cars as well as in hotels and industries. Switzerland's entire rail system is electrified and the remote parts of the mountain are accessible by rail.
(e) Switzerland is centrally situated in Europe making the country close to most European countries which are the major source of its tourists. Tourists from the region are able to travel to Switzerland easily and cheaply.
