The function of the county education board shall be to –
a] Oversee in consultation with the county education , the operation and management of youth polytechnic ,pre- primary education including early child hood care and education programmes in the county ;

b. Coordinate and monitor education and training in the county on behalf of the national government and the county government

c. Interpret national policies in education based on county needs

d. Initiate proposal for policy reforms

e. Plan, promote and coordinate education, training and research in the county in accordance
with provision of this act , the national education policy and the laws and policies of the county government.

f. Monitor implementation in basic education in the country;

g. Monitor the conduct of examination and assessment at basic education and training levels in the
county in collaboration with relevant national bodies

h. Collaborate with teachers commission on teacher commission on teacher management within county;

i. coordinate with all relevant agencies to ensure that all the barriers to the right quality education are removed and with national government to facilitate realization of the right to educate within the county .

k. Perform such other function as may be necessary for the better carrying out of function of the county education board under this act or any other written.
