The following roles are played by Business Studies Subject Panelist;
(i) Review / drafting / redrafting of the Business Studies syllabus fort use at the secondary school level. Education system always changes from time to time
which necessitates a change in the curriculum. Syllabuses are reviewed and
redrafted again and again. The process of reviewing and redrafting a syllabus
is a continuous process
(ii) Review of course textbooks for use in the teaching of the syllabus. Newly
published textbooks are usually reviewed by the subject panel members. These
newly published books are either recommended for use or rejected by the
subject panel members. If recommended, then the textbooks are either
recommended as a course textbook or teacher’s reference materials or a library
reading materials. The recommendations are sent forward to the ministry of
education for approval.
(iii) Some of the subject panel members are involved in the writing and publishing of
new textbooks for use in the teaching and learning ( of the syllabus)
(iv) The subject panel members are also involved in the preparation and production
of teaching aids (other learning resources) for use in schools. These include
sound recorded programmes for teaching and learning
(v) Some subject panel members are involved in the setting, marking, grading and
moderation of national examinations.
