From the 1970’s several scholars have devoted much attention to African pre-capitalist
economic systems. Both African and Western historians developed new perspectives of
analysing pre-capitalist M.O.P. in Africa. The scholars have concluded that Africa had
peasant forms of production and distribution which could be broadly categorized under
two:
1) Lineage/Kinship M.O.P.
2) The tributary M.O.P.
