How to write formal letters

These letters for various purposes such as job application, formal request and recommendation letter.The language used should be official and the letter should be short but brief. Official letters must have two addresses; the sender and the receiver addresses. The sender address is written on top right the letter while the receiver address on the top left below the sender address.
Examples of formal letters commonly tested in an exam includes;

i)Job application letter.

Dear sir/Madam,
REF: APPLYING FOR A JOB.

I have five years working experience as a sales consultant with Fodcom Limited. I promise to deliver to my level best if you consider me favourably.
Herein with please find copies of the relevant document attached.
