Handball is one of the most interesting and appealing games to the human eyes, during its inception it was considered a feminine game but has grown to outlive its critics as men have taken over.

Here is the basic information you need to know about handball:

1. Handball is the second fastest game in the world, the only faster game is ice hockey

2. It is played with two teams each having seven players one who stays in goal

3. Handball combines dribbling skills of basketball and a score is similar to that of soccer

4. The handball pitch has a six meter curve that only the goalkeeper is allowed inside

5. The ball must not touch any players’ legs apart from the goalkeeper inside the restricted area.

6. The players can only hold the ball for a maximum of three seconds without bouncing

7. The game is played in two halves of approximately twenty five minutes each with a five minute break.

8. Substitutions are made without consulting the referee and cannot exceed seven players on the match sheet.

9. Penalties include two minute suspensions, yellow and red cards depending on the offence.

10. A team may go into extra time in case of draws in scores or penalty flicks.
