A juice extractor is a device used to mechanically separate juice from pulp of a majority of vegetables, herbs, fruits and leafy greens. After the separation the solid part or the pulp is discarded or used in breads or muffins. Most people cannot distinguish between juice extractors and juice blenders; a juice extractor or a juicer separates juice from pulp rather than blending them.

There are three kinds of juice extractors: masticating juicers, centrifugal juicers and triturating juicers. Masticating juicers normally ‘chews’ the fruit to a pulp and then squeezes the juice out. Centrifugal juice extractors have powerful, speedy motors which rotate the material at a supersonic speed to separate the juice from the fleshy tissue, and this makes the process fast. Centrifugal juicers are the cheapest so they are a better choice for a limited budget. The latter has two similar gears which first crushes the fruit then presses it to extract the juice.

The triturating and masticating juice extractors can also juice wheatgrass, but the centrifugal juice extractor cannot break the sod fibers. The single auger masticating extractor uses an outlined screw mode molding to compress and crushes the matter against a fixed screen thus allowing the fluid to flow through the screen and the pulp is gotten rid off through another separate outlet. The twin gear triturating device is typically the priciest juicer, but it offers the best juice yield. It employs two metallic counter-rotating gears which crush the fodder that is being juiced. The accurate tolerance of these gears allows the juice to flow past the gap between the gears, while the large pulpy material passes along the top side of the gears and it is discharged.

Juicers allow utilization of more uncooked produce than conventional eating would permit. A juicer concentrates the sustenance by eliminating the fiber from

the juice which augments the body’s absorption capacity. Juicers prevent the destruction cooking and heat can do to most vitamins and enzymes that are found in fruits.
