SELECTED CONCEPTUAL
MODELS AND GRAND THEORIES OF NURSING
Conceptual models provide a comprehensive view and guide for nursing practice. They are organizing frameworks that guide the reasoning process in professional nursing practice e (All good, 2006). At the level of the conceptual model, each metaparadigm concept is defined and described in a manner unique to the model, with the model providing an alternative way to view the concepts considered important to the discipline
The Living Tree of Nursing Theories. Trouville and Ingalls (2003) describe nursing theory as a “living tree”. The four domains or metaparadigms of person, environment, health, and nursing form the roots of the tree.
