1)The subject matter~This covers the essential parts of an educational system,for example, structure,curriculum, financing,the teacher training,aim if education, examination system and age of admission to school.
2)Geographical study of an educational system ~Here we compare educational system in a given region or continent,for example,Asian and Africa
3)Ideological study of comparative education ~in this case similarities and differences in educational system offered in different countries is studied along differing political, social and economic ideologies.
4)Thematic scope~This focuses on themes in education.also referred as topical issues in education. They emerge and change from time to time,for example is fire outbreak in schools.
5)Historical scope~Here we study the historical development of education system or issues in education.
