Loneliness is generally feeling sad about being alone,living alone or having a sensation of isolation which when prolonged over time may lead to depression(deep mood swings and sorrows).it is therefore very important to ensure we learn how to cope with loneliness so as to ensure our mental and social health.
1.You may need to join a volunteer work group: offering your time and abilities in helping others makes us easily accepted.This may solve your problem of loneliness as well as render a service.
2. Actively search for friendship:rather than wait for others to come to you,be the first to take the first step. you can do this by suggesting some specific activity(walk,game,sport or invite someone to your home).
3.Try to show a forthright,sincere and frank attitude: you do not need to think of rejection every time you meet new people. Children establish friendships easily since they do not worry whether they will be accepted or not.
4.Study your own attitude or behaviour : you may find that you may be your own barrier to friendships.
reflect intimately on your behaviour with friends and family.
Ask yourself the following:
a) Are my opinions negative or hopeful?
b)Do I often smile or keep a sombre face?
c)Am willing to offer help or am I constantly asking for help?
d)Do I do things as i want or am I open to suggestions of others?
5) Seek spiritual support: If you are a believer,talk to God as to a friend. Prayer is better than chanting (or reciting). In your prayers, express openly and sincerely your fears and most intimate dissatisfactions. The Bible assures us that for those with faith in God everything is possible, even finding a solution to the problem of loneliness.
