(a) Physical file: This describes how a file content is viewed in terms of how data content is stored or arranged in a storage media and how processing operations are made possible over the stored contents.

(b) Logical file describes the way the user views the file in terms of its data items and possible processing operations to be performed on the data items stored in the file.
