THE ADVANTAGES OF INDUCTION MOTORS OVER SYNCHRONOUS MOTORS
1. Induction motors can be self-started but synchronous motor is not self-starting.
2. Induction motor does not require any external excitation to run while synchronous motor requires an external D.C to run.
3. Induction motors are less expensive and user friendly unlike synchronous motors which are expensive and complicated to use.
4. Induction motors are used in MOST of the rotating or moving machines like grinders while synchronous motors are used ONLY when very low speed performance is required.
