Natural resources can be classified basing on:
1.Origin:
Biotic resources- are resources derived from animals and plants.
Abiotic resources- are resources derived from non- living world.
2. Stages of development:
Potential resources-are resources which exist in a region and may be used in future.
Actual resources- are resources surveyed, their quantity and quality determined and are currently being used.
Reserve resources- are part of actual resources that can be profitably developed in future.
Stock resources- are resources which are surveyed but cannot be used due to lack of technology.
3Renewability:
Renewable resources- are resources which can be replenish. They are available continously and their quality is not noticably affected by human consumption.
Non- renewable resources- these are resources which form slowly and do not naturally form in the environment.
