1. It facilitates the compliance with standards by promoting a collegial and collective approach to quality assurance.

2. They provide appropriate incentives for voluntary compliance with the standards and quality assurance in basic education.

3. As a QACO, one may;

- At any time enter any basic education and training institution with or without notice to ensure compliance with education standards and regulations.

- Require any person responsible for the management of a basic educational institution, or teacher or employee to produce for his/her quality review, timetable, syllabus, record book, etc.

- Require by order in writing the attendance before him/her any person who has not fulfilled the requirements during the visits.
As a QACO, one has the power to recommend temporary suspension of the operations of the institution to the CEB for a specific period until the basic standards are met. A QACO can also make recommendations to the TSC and the CEB for necessary actions. QACOs are allowed access to all parts of the school and access to all records of the institution without any hindrance.
