It is a feeling of pain, which people experience when they are psychologically injured. It is an underlying emotion to anger.
Causes
- Relationship with others.
- Naivety.
- A person may want to be hurt. Hurting one self to make up for unconscious guilt.
- When we stand in the way of growth of others.
- When we misinterpret behavior.
Counselling implications
- Help the client to see the entire wound, feel it and express it.
- Help the client to perceive hurt more realistically.
- Help the clients see their own contributions.
- Let the client allow him/herself to take risks of getting hurt by encouraging them to be open to experiences.
