Ingredients
butter or margarine
sifted icing sugar.
Few drops of vanilla essence.
Colouring as desired.
Method:
-Sieve the icing sugar preferably twice into a mixing bowl.
-Add soft butter or margarine and beat the two together using a wooden spoon until a soft whitish consistency is obtained as desired.
-Add vanilla essence and colouring as desired
-Application
-Place the cake on the cake board
-Put icing on top and spread evenly on top and sides of the cake as required. Smoothen out with a pastry knife dipped in hot water.
-Pipe or decorate as required
NB: An interesting effect can be produced by simply running a fork dipped in hot water across the cake to produce lines or work basket type of design on top. Pipe rosettes at the edge
