The mean mark of the scores obtained by ten pupils in a test was l2. The marks obtained by eight of the pupils were:
l3, 11, 10, 9, 10, 18, 11, l0
If the other two pupils obtained equal marks, what was the median mark in the test?

A. 10

Answers

The correct answer is (C) 11

The median is the middle number after arranging the numbers in ascending order
The total marks = the mean x total number of pupils
=12x 10 =120
Total marks for 8 pupils =13+11+10+9+10+18+11+10
= 92
Marks scored by the remaining 2 pupils =120-92 =28
Each scored =28 ÷2 =14
Median =9, 10, 10, 10,11,11,13,14,14,18
The middle numbers =11, 11
