Materials provided:
1. PATTERN PIECES
A. FRONT BODICE
B. BACK BODICE
C. BACK YOKE
D. COLLAR
E. BACKNECK FACING
2. Plain lightweight cotton fabric 55cm by 91cm wide
3. Sewing thread to match
4. Embroidery thread (one to be used by all candidates)
5. One large envelope.
THE TEST.
Using the materials provided, lay out, cut out and make THE LEFT HALF of Childs dress bodice to show the following processes;
a) Cutting out
b) Making the bust dart
c) Preparation and top stitching of inverted pleat
d) Attaching the back yoke to the back bodice and using the an overlaid seam (Neaten half of it)
e) Preparation of machine fell seam on the shoulder
f) Preparing the interfaced collar demonstrate snipping on the collar
g) Joining the back neck facing to the extended front facing and using it to attach the collar (Neaten the free edges of facing) demonstrate snipping on neckline.
h) Working an open seam on the side seam
i) Working of the buttonhole with rounded ends
j) Embroidering the scroll at the bodice front using chain stitches

MATERIALS PROVIDED:
1. Pattern pieces for the dress:
A – Dress front
B – Dress back
C – Sleeve
D – Cuff
E – Pocket
F – Cuff interfacing
G – Sleeve opening binding
1. Plain light weight cotton fabric 70cm long by 90cm wide.
2. Cotton sewing thread to match the fabric.
THE TEST:
Using the materials provided cut out and make the LEFT HALF of the child’s dress to show the following:
(a) The working of the shoulder dart.
(b) The preparation and attachment of the pocket.
(c) The joining of the shoulder seam using a neatened plain seam.
(d) The joining of the side seam using a neatened open seam.
(e) The making of the bound opening of the sleeve.
(f) The joining of the under arm seam using a French seam.
(g) The preparation and attachment of an interfaced cuff.
(h) The preparation and attachment of the sleeve, without trimming the seam allowance.
At the end of the examination, firmly sew onto your work, on a single fabric, a label bearing your name and index number. Remove the needles and pins from your work, and then fold your work neatly
