I. Utilitarian goals:
a) For students to achieve utilization goals he should learn mathematics for everyday life in numbers, number operations, measurements and approximations, basic geometry, graphs and relations.
b) Students should learn mathematics as a tool for other subjects for example, basic algebra, calculus, trigonometry, statistics, vectors, matrices, mechanics etc.

II. Social Goals:
a) Mathematics provides learners with appropriate skills of investigation when faced with a problem which could be beneficial to the whole society.
b) These methods of investigation include scientific and deductive methods
c) The way Mathematics is taught would encourage individuals to work with others which is a good quality of the society. This is achieved through organization, sharing of equipment as one harness mathematical materials, community rights and acquisition of social motivation by interacting with others.

III. Cultural Values
a) Mathematics helps in development of a pupil’s technology through the individual’s
development of original thought processes and also examination of structure in natural
phenomenon.
B Mathematics as a powerful language which is precise and ambiguous helps the individual benefit of a culture to make mathematical models to explain natural phenomenon. The symbolism involved is a useful means of efficient communication which help to transmit cultural values to the youth
b) Mathematics contribute to logic in a culture: This helps individuals to appreciate beauty in their culture

IV. Personal goals
a) Study of Mathematics builds a person’s character through active involvement in Mathematics
learning. Contribution to personal success and develop patience as one works with others.
b) Study of Mathematics gives a person an opportunity for stimulating curiosity self-expression and self-criticism.
