Homa Bay county is one of the forty seven counties created by the constitution of Kenya 2010. It is located at the shores of Lake Victoria and is surrounded by Kisii County, Migori County and two others. It's headquarters is Homa Bay town with a population of about 500,000 inhabitants.The main tourist attractions in the county include: The Ruma National Park, Rusinga Island in the former Suba District, Lake Simbi Nyaima in Rachuonyo district a crater lake where a myth of its origin exists. The Homa-Hills are known to house numerous hot-springs that have their source at the base of the hills. Fish is plenty in the county and one cannot miss accommodation at various hotels located at the county such as the Prudence Hotel, Tourist Hotel and Hippo-Buck hotels all of three star hotel quality.The security of the county is at all level high with few reports of organized crimes.
