.Free up disk space.Run the disk clean up to free up space. You can do this by going to the Start menu>All programs>Accessories>System tools>Disk clean up.
.Uninstall applications and Programs that you are not using. Go to the Start menu>Control panel>Add/Remove Programs.
.Check if your Antivirus is updated and scan your computer for malware and any other harmful programs.
.Don''t run many programs at a go, similarly don't open many browser windows or tabs at once. This uses up a lot of the processing power of the cpu causing it to run slowly.Close any programs you are not using.
.Check and revise your computer for start up programs. There are unnecessary programs that launch at start up and run in the background causing your computer to run slow.
.Check for disk errors on your computer.Go to My computer>Right click on the hard disk>Select properties>Tools tab 'check now' under 'error checking area' >when the dialogue box opens, check both boxes.
.Defragment disk. Defragmentation consolidates chopped up and fragmented files and folders on your hard disk thus making your computer run faster.Go to Start menu>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>Disk defragmentation.
.Avoid overheating your Computer. Mostly laptops, avoid placing them on beds or cushioned seats for long hours.
.Install a registry cleaner. This can be found for free on the Microsoft site.Avoid downloading other bogus registry cleaners from the internet for most of them come with malicious spyware that can cause your computer to run slow, they can modify or delete some programs and allow worms into your computer.
.Lastly, i will advice you to avoid sharing or opening flash disks without scanning with an updated antivirus or using an open peer to peer network for they are more prone to getting malicious malware into your computer, also do not open untrusted emails with attachments containing files like EXE., .DOC,.PDF, the are more likely to be

dangerous.
