We love to take a trip, whether it's a short road trip or a journey by air to distant exotic place. But too often we fail to plan a trip and as a result of frustration and annoyance.

1. For road trips, get the right maps and plan your route carefully. Anything that does not go exactly as planned, but at least you will have much less unpleasant surprises.

2. Immediately become suspicious in airports, railway and bus stations when someone bumps into you. This can be a pickpocket. You also need to know if something is spilled on you, or a stain on your clothes is indicated for you. These things are meant to divert attention from what really happens: theft of property.

3. While cruises make planning easy with all of their charges, it is likely that there will be many more elements to the budget. These include taxes, fees and charges, gratuities, drinks, some sightseeing, shopping cart etc.

4. The most obvious thing to check before heading overseas trip in a state of local weather, wherever you go. You do not want to come to a T-shirt, if it snows, or in a fur coat, if it is in the 90s.

5. When traveling with children, take a recent photo of each of them. If a child is lost, photos will be invaluable in helping to find the child again.
