Summary

Here is well detailed and professionally prepared training Manual for Nutrition Intervention for HIV & AIDS.

Brief Overview
MODULE INTRODUCTION
There is a relationship between HIV and nutrition. At individual level, HIV infection increases nutrient demands while at the same time impairing nutrient intake and uptake. Consequently, poor nutrition increases the risk of opportunistic infections accelerating the progression of HIV to AIDS. Malnutrition and HIV and AIDS are synergistic and create a vicious cycle that weakens the immune system. The general module is designed to equip the learner with competency in managing conditions among people living with HIV and AIDS. The module also gives insights on monitoring and evaluating HIV&AIDS nutrition programs.
The prerequisite modules include; Human anatomy and physiology, HIV & AIDS, Principles of human nutrition, Introduction to Microbiology, Nutrition Care Process and Communicable & non communicable diseases.
The module takes 60 contact hours: 34 hours for theory and 26 hours for practicals. Learners undertaking this module will have both theory and practical assessments. The formative assessment will be in the form of continuous assessment tests, assignments, clinical and field assessments and end of semester examination whereas summative assessment will be done in form of final qualifying examination.
