There are three types of memory namely;

1. Sensory memory/ register- this is information from the sensory organs

2. Short term memory-this is the memory used currently and contain current information. It has got certain characteristics such as;
-It fades easily unless the information is repeated frequently
-It is like our attention span i.e. it can easily be disrupted
-It's capacity is small however can be improved through thinking
-Short term memory information can be easily retrieved

3. Long term memory
Types:
a) Exclusive memory/interacting
handles information about relocation of words, definition of terms, places, events.
Subdivided into;
Semantic memory-memories that enable us to learn various words
Exotic memory-are about our personal facts
b) Procedural/implicitly memory
Consist of actions, skills and operations
Contains memories of how to execute certain reactions
