Its the holiday season again for primary and high school students. This holiday is the most wasted among the three that we usually have in the Kenyan education system.

Normally the Kenyan education system allows for three long breaks for primary and high school students; April, August and December holidays. Most students view these breaks as the time to indulge in things that they were technically not allowed to do back at school.

Although these breaks are meant for relaxation and for a break from the normal school routine, the relaxation shouldn't be unregulated. In the end, you will have to go back to school and continue with your academic work.

Don't indulge into full blast enjoyment and relaxation that in the end you may even forget some of the basic things that you learnt back at school.
Do not also start indulging in drug and alcohol abuse as this may cause some sort of addiction and in the end you may want to use them to be able to carry out some of your activities.

It is also worthy to note that most schools, both private and public ones, give assignments to be done at home. Most students just after making their first step out of the school gate almost completely forget about the assignment only to remember it a few days before schools reopen. At this time, the assignments do not really serve the purpose they were supposed to.

Instead of making students understand a particular topic better, they make matters worse. Students end up rushing to do the assignments and thus may not do the research and studying as intended but rather find easier methods to complete the assignment.

During these breaks, you can study and at the same time enjoy the holiday. Planning

is what is important in order to achieve this. Make a schedule of how you will be studying yet at the same time spend your holiday time effectively. You can choose to study early in the morning or late in the evening and leave the middle part of the day for relaxation and enjoyment of your holiday. This is also the time that you can interact with students from other schools and exchange notes and past paper revision questions.

During these times, you can also opt to enroll in tuition. The tuition doesn't necessarily have to be carried out all days of the week. It can be only during the weekend or even two to three hours in the evening. With this, you can combine holiday purpose together with the learning process. The tuition may be chosen depending on various factors including the subjects that you are not that good in, time, personal tutor and more.

In the end, you have to realize that you will return to school and continue with the learning process. Enjoy the holiday but still do some studying.
