Factors affecting Kenya education system.

Our Kenyan education system is one of a kind. It has many political and social influence compared with other countries in the world. Since its introduction up to now, it has had many complaining about it. Especially when free education was introduced by our current president. It led to others saying that after the introduction of the free primary and secondary education, there have been an increase in tax rates compared to when we use to say school fees in the early years.

Some have also been heard complaining that our current education system, that is, 8.4.4 which they say it is not good for our children. The complaint is that the children have to read what is not good to know and what might not be useful to the life of that child. For example, the primary school pupils have to read creative arts as a subject which is not examinable at the end of the primary school certificate. My brother and sister still have it in their syllabus. I myself had to do creative arts up to class eight and did not do it in the final examinations. In the high school level, one has to do not less than two sciences and maybe the sciences may not be of help in the future. For example someone who will want to pursue journalism as a profession will not need the sciences like biology or chemistry. This is what my argument is based on, some subjects are of no use to the students career.

Let us say someone is pursuing an engineering course, he or she may not need a subject like history, which is a must in other schools. The issue with making some subjects a must to do in schools is another issue which is making our

education system to lag behind. Another thing is that politics has been introduced in our schools. Take the recent case for example, where the minister of education was accused of encouraging the students to wear mini-skirts. It caused many discussions all over the countries.
