INTRODUCTION
Agriculture refers to the art and science of growing crops and domestication of animals. Agriculture is recognized as an ancient activity in the history of mankind. It dates back to the periods of Agrarian Revolution in Mesopotamia and Egyptian Agriculture. It is regarded as a soul economic activity in most third world countries such as Kenya. Agricultural Geography is a field of study that examines the overall spatial distribution of agricultural activities in various regions, the challenges faced, possible solutions to this challenges and the theories of agriculture.
Therefore, this article will critically examine the Von Thunen’s theory of agricultural places, the challenges faced by organic farmers in Kenya and replication of Green Revolution in East Africa by bridging the gap between research and rural farmers. The challenges include; land tenure, ineffective marketing systems, poor storage facilities, ignorance and lack of good agricultural education, lack of finance among others. All will be examined later in this paper.
