Brief Overview:

1.Selection and Definition of Research Problem.
This is the first stage in the research process where a researcher identifies the topic or based on the problem that the researcher wants to get a solution to it.
Before conducting any research ,you should decide on the major problem area that interest you. Normally , this will be your field of specialization. Next you should select the specified topic for research . This should be done after thorough review of literature on the general area .After identifying the topic narrow it down to a specific research problem.
Sources of the research problem.
• Direct observation of the needs of the society.
• Knowledge and experience of counsellors and psychologists.
• Related literature including dissertation,abstract, journals,psychology index and research report on the topic.
• The final activity in this stage is the definition of the research problem.
• The research problem is a difficulty to which a solution or an answer is being sought out in the study.
• The first step in defining a research problem is to ask yourself the question(what do I want to find out)
