Admission Requirements


Those seeking admission to Egerton University should meet the following minimum entry requirements.
1. Certificate Programme
Mean grade of C- in Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education
2. Diploma Programmes
Mean grade of C in KCSE or equivalent or certificate in a related field from a recognized training institution with a credit pass
3. Regular Degree Programmes
Candidates must posses a mean grade of KCSE C+ and above and subject cluster as set up by the Joint Admissions Board (JAB). In-service candidates must posses a diploma with a credit pass or equivalent.
4. Self Sponsored Degree Programmes
Candidates must posses a mean grade of C+ and above and a subject cluster of C+ and above in relevant field of study. A-level students with at least two principal passes may also be admitted. In-service candidates must posses at least a credit diploma from a recognized institution.
5. Postgraduate Degree Programmes
(i) Masters - Minimum requirement is a Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline with at least 2nd class honours (upper division) or equivalent from Egerton University or other recognized university.
(ii) Ph. D - Minimum requirement is a Masters Degree in a relevant discipline from Egerton or any other recognized university.

Degree courses are normally advertised in the national newspapers around February/March and August/September.

    (b)Division III in KCE/EACE.
    In addition,they must have passed

    (c)Those who have passed KACE/EAACE examinations

    - Interested students
    must have scored a minimum of

    (b)Admission may be offered to holders of a first degree with a lower second class honors and relevant experience in research or teaching at an institution of higher learning recognized by the Senate.
    (c)Admission shall be granted to applicants who have upper second class honors or equivalent but lack undergraduate courses considered essential for graduate study in the major field.
