(a) The water in river Perkerra fluctuates greatly due to obstruction down stream and drought. This affects the acreage that can be cultivated and also causes crop stress due to water shortage.
(b) Farmers are yet to be issued with title deeds. This is a government policy but it is taking too long to be implemented
(c) The new policy of the NIB is that farmers should prepare their own land. However, the farmers at the scheme are not ready for this due to financial constraints
(d) Sometimes the scheme is the only area in the region with green vegetation and this makes it attractive to livestock. This leads to conflict between the livestock owners and the farmers.
(e) The growing of maize seed was brought in as a diversification measure. However, it brings in more income for the farmer and has led to the abandonment of cultivation of other crops such as onions, chillies and water melons.
