(a) The construction of an all weather tarmac road from Kitale to Kalokol in order to open up the area to the outside market.
(b) Foreign agencies like the Norwegian Agency for Development have helped in developing fishing activity in the area. They have introduced modern and more efficient methods of fishing such as nets and fishing boats in place of the traditional methods which were inefficient.
(c) The locals have been advised on the importance of eating fish hence expanding the market.
(d) The formation of the Lake Turkana Fishermen Cooperative society has enabled the local fishermen to acquire fishing equipment such as nets and boats besides helping them to market the commodity.
