• It provides an opportunity for the examiner to test the learner in a realistic setting.
• Allows the examiner to observe and take individual performance in a task.
• Provides an opportunity to observe and test attitude and responsiveness of the learner to the total situation.

Disadvantages.
• Performance tests are expensive because one examiner can only examine a maximum of ten students per day.
• Performance tests cannot be used effectively for large groups.

• It lacks objectivity in marking because they suffer from intrusion of irrelevant factors.
• Well sufficient equipment is not available, performance test results in equal examination conditions thus making the comparison of the results invalid.
