Juneteenth is the annual celebration in commemoration of the time when United States put into an end of slavery. The event is celebrated on June 19 to mark the end of slavery which was abolished by union soldiers. Actually the event is celebrated worldwide in remembrance of the beginning of freedom and equal rights among individual. It was official started in June 19, 1865. According to Ennis William, this is a day of renewal and full of pride. The Juneteenth 2012 celebration will be celebrated next month.

In a nutshell, the celebration began as the result Presbyterian Church gospel along the sea. Then it spread across United States with regard to observe African-American Emancipation day. In the present day, the events puts more emphasize on education, achievement and development. In some areas the festival takes a day, week or a moth where guest speakers are invited to address community members.

It is the ripe time for individual evaluation, analyzing individual failures and successes and then plan for future. Juneteenth event has gained popularity in America as a day symbolizing maturity and dignity. This is a day when people from different races, religions, nationalities join together to mark the day when societies gained freedom and began to develop.

There are various events carried out during the celebration. Neighborhood parties and presentation of awards to community members take place. This when young people hold competition of artwork or essay writing, flag raising is a thing will never miss in US states. It may also include playing of various games.
In US states, the celebration may be partial or full public holiday. Some US states such as California, Alaska, Florida, Colorado, Kansas officially observe the celebration. As a public day, some employed people in US states are given a off to give for celebration. Most of public

offices may be opened in this day but there may be some changes such earlier closing. However, some offices like post offices, organizations and stores work as usual.

To give a general background, slavery began as soon as English colonists entered in United States. Slavery took roots until the Emancipation Proclamation which came up in the year 1863. Among United States, Texas was greatly affected. In the year 1865, Union soldiers entered Texas and took over. This was the beginning of abolition of slavery in the state. They laid strong foundations towards to this day. Since the festival was to be celebrated on 19 June, it was named Juneteenth. It started to spread over to other states in UN. Today, Juneteenth celebrations and observed almost in every country to mark the end of slavery.

There is symbol symbolizing the day. A rectangular flag is raised in this day. The flag is colored red to the lower side while to the upper side is colored blue. In between the two colors that is blue and red color is a solid white color. To the center, is five stars surrounded by a white color. The flag symbolizes that slavery is illegal and against human rights. It is important to celebrate Juneteenth 2012.
