QR stands for quick response and therefore a QR-code reader is basically anything that read that code. The reader works by an individual scanning the QR code on a product such as a newspaper or product. If there is an internet connection, the reader obtains the online location where information about the product can be found. It then directs you to that website. If it an original product with a real QR code, you should be directed to the website of the original manufacturer. Should it be a fake, it will lead you elsewhere and you can therefore know that the product is not from the manufacturer or producer you desire. In case of publications, upon scanning the code, one is directed to the publisher's website where they can access an online version of the same. Each QR code is unique such that a code can only lead to a certain website or part of a website. QR-codes have definitely changed how we operate especially that they are now available in smartphones.
