Gender harassment constitutes discrimination because it is harmful and its based on gender .Its not neccessary motivated by sexual desire nor does it need to involve sexual activity.legal doctrine and sexual science research recognise gender –based as encomparing both ones biological sex and gender-based, stereotypes and expectations, such as heterosexuality and proper performance of gender roles .Gender harasment can be based on the violetion of cultural gender stereotypes.
The reason behind all type of harassment against women lies in the societys patriarchal structure where by women not seen and men always think that they are superior in the society to women, thus men employee does not want afemale to be aco-employee to work with equally or he would not like her to be in the higher post in the office and they harass them to make her feel inferior and uncomfortable.
However, we live in acountry where people often say, we are not ready for afemle president, as if thats acriteria for leadership , i urge being awomen still beats being tried at the icc for human right violetions.
According to gate and chapman (2010) study, one in three women between the age of 18-34 has been sexually harassed at work. The researcher found that 70% of the workers sumerged suffer some form of verbal harass, while 45% experienced exclussionary behaviour. The equal employment opportunity commission (EEOC),it received more than 28000 harassment claims for worker in 2006 alone, which represented one-third of the employment discrimination charges that agently received that year of the claims , harassment on the basis of sex or race was the most prevalent , followed by disability , age, nation , region or religion.
