ABSTRACT
The main objective of this study was to investigate on the impact of integrated financial management information system on expenditure control among county governments in Kenya with specific reference to Makueni county government. The IFMIS in Kenya was developed by the Ministry of Finance in 1998 while deployment of the system to line ministries started taking place in 2003. However, various changes were made to fit the system to the government processes. The specific objectives of the study were IFMIS procurement module, IFMIS budgeting module and IFMIS accounting module. The study was guided by the innovation diffusion theory, information theory, systems theory, and resource based theory and covered the literature and critical reviews, the gaps in research and the conceptual framework adopted for this research.
