The double intake of students to the university was a good initiative by the Ministry of Higher Education. It helped to clear the backlog of more that 30,000 students who qualified to join the university but could not be admitted due to the lack of space. According to the ministry of higher education, double intake will help clear the backlog by 2015.

The process is a double edged sword. Despite the process having the advantage side, it has the dark side of it. The disadvantages are even more. Yes it will end the students nightmare of waiting for two years to join university, that is, if they are admitted by the joint admission board(JAB), but still it has the wrong parts. The current facilities of the public universities are not sufficient to handle such a large number of students.

The current number of underpaid lecturers is not enough to teach there thousands of students. For the project to run smoothly, as it is the will of many, the government will have to react fast and improve the facilities and increase the number of dons. Very few number of lecturers teaching such a large number of students will only lower the quality of education. It is not about the number of students who will join the university but it should be about the level of education that our students will get. Good education is very essential to achieving the vision 2030.

Double admission will also be a pain to the higher higher education loans board(HELB). The helb will have to strain a bit more to provide loans for this large number of students. Since the number is too large, the amount awarded will reduce. Students depends more on the loan will have a hard time

in the campus. Most of the public universities lack enough lecture halls and hostels to accommodate such large number. The idea is a good one at poorly implemented. The government should improve the current situation and hire more dons and other stuff to accommodate such number of students.

Otherwise, double intake shall be a more problem that a solution.
