Towels, these are fabric personal absorbent material that are used for drying oneself especially after bath. Due to this work, they retain dampness that is a potential breeding ground for mildew and mould. Despite the fact that they washed frequently, towels have an amazing ability to keep foul smells right after laundering. This is because their thick and plush fabric takes time before it dries.

Here are some tips of getting rid of the foul odour and make them smell fresh.

1. The towel should be used to dry up excess water only, and this can be ensured by making sure you bath properly so that the towel cannot be used unknowingly to wipe of sweat and dirt of the dead skin.

2. It is good to hang a towel after use as excess water may evaporate instead of dumping it in a laundry hamper which leads to dampness hence a breeding environment for bacteria.

3. Wash the towels frequently. Soak them in hot soapy water then washing them thoroughly and rinse twice with fresh water. Use of left over water stains the towels and keep the foul smell intact.

4. Adding a fabric softener when washing, not only softens the towel but also leaves it with a fresh clean smell. Alternatively, vinegar can be used as it is good in absorbing odours.

5. Dry the towel in the sun and take advantage of free and warm energy. This also help to aerate the towels hence eliminating mildew and mould.

6. Lastly the towel has to be ironed and placed in a stack inside a laundry closet.
