Innocent victims of drug abuse in Kenya.

Drug addiction is a major issue that affects the Kenyan society. We must all say no to drugs because it destroys lives. There are many innocent victims of drug abuse in Kenya, people who did not ask for the ill fate imposed on them by drugs. They do not deserve it.

Drug users need money to buy drugs. When they have no other way to get money, they may result to stealing. They become violent robbers. They result to violent means because of the desperation to get the drugs. A random hard working member of the society may be attacked by the drug addicts. Most of the time the victim will be injured when being robbed. In extreme cases there may be casualties: death of victim. An innocent member of the society of Kenya loses his/her life because an addict just wants to get some money to buy drugs and satisfy the addiction.

Drunk driving has been a major cause of road accidents in Kenya. When a driver is not sober, he is not able to control the car effectively. This leads to accidents occurring on our roads. Road accidents caused by drunk driving has claimed many innocent lives. Driving under the influence of alcohol has lead to many deaths. Drunk drivers do not make sound judgement when behind the wheel. They hallucinate and may overspeed leading to accidents. The victims are innocent passengers, other drivers and often pedestrians end up losing their lives. This not fair.

Drugs have broken up many families in Kenya. A father who is addicted to drugs opts to buy drugs rather than cater for the family''s needs. Eventually the mother will be fed up and leave with the children. The children will grow up without a father. In sadder incidences, the father may come home drunk and

beat up the wife and children. There have been cases where this violence has resulted in death. A child who uses drugs may be disowned by the family. This is because he brings shame to the family name. He/she will feel abandoned and may end up engaging in crimes to get money for drugs.

The worst type of an addict is a pregnant addict. We all know the effects that drugs can have on an unborn baby. The baby may be born underweight, deformed and sickly. In extreme cases the unborn baby may die and result in miscarriage. Why would someone punish an innocent baby for her addiction. This is not right. The pregnant addict will not care at all about the baby. She will be focused more on how she can get drugs. The drugs will hurt the innocent baby up to an extent of killing it.

Drug addicts will do anything to get drugs. Women will engage in prostitution to get money. This leads to a moral decay of the society. The immoral acts will lead to a spread of sexually transmitted diseases including HIV/AIDS. For example: In a scenario where an addict decides to engage in prostitution. She gets infected with HIV virus. Another client seeks her services and gets him infected. The man goes home to his wife and unfortunately infects her. As you can see the innocent victim is the wife whose husband has engaged in extra marital affairs. She does not deserve it.

As you have read above, these are the innocent victims of drug abuse in Kenya. They did not ask for it but it happened to them all because of drugs.
Do not let drugs ruin your life and the life of the people you love. We as Kenyans should protect Kenya from drugs. It is a war which we can win united.
