Why people join teaching as a profession in Kenya

Teaching as a profession has always faced different challenges over time. These challenges have caused many people to view teaching as a profession that is not as competitive as other professions. There are various reasons why people though may be motivated of forced to join teaching as a profession.

These reasons involve the following:

1) Interest.
People join teaching because they either have interest in teaching or being teachers. Majority believe that teaching leads one to enjoyment of society respect and being one who can be a role model to other people through education.

2) Job security.
Some people join teaching because teaching as a profession has security. That is to say that most teachers enjoy job security or teaching itself is different from other kinds of professions in which job security is lacking.

3) Academic subject.
Some other people join teaching because they have a passion or interest in a particular subject. For instance, interest in mathematics may lead an individual into joining teaching because he or she finds mathematics enjoyable.

4) Working conditions.
Teaching as a profession has very rounded and comfortable offs. The hours of working in teaching is varied and mostly less compared to other profession. There are also long vacations in between the terms. The teachers can also choose the locations that they wish to teach in. these will attract people into teaching as a profession.

5) Rewards.
There are attractive rewards in teaching and this motivates people to join teaching. There is also lead way to upward mobility as compared to some static professions.

6) Role model.
Some people also join teaching through copying or coming after their role models. It is true that many students like seeing their teachers push out ignorance in them and they may also wish to do the same to other people in future, his may motivate such people to join teaching.

7) Last resort.
Other people also join

teaching as a last resort. After searching for other courses or professions of choice and failing to get, some people will get to teaching as a last resort.
