WATER HARVESTING USING ROOFTOP CATCHMENT
INTRODUCTION.
Rainwater harvesting is a way of collection and storage of rain water into natural reservoirs,
dams, tanks and infiltration of surface water into subsurface aquifers.
There are various methods used for harvesting rainwater such as roof catchment, rock
catchment, ground surface, check and sand dams and hafirs systems. Rooftop harvesting is the
commonly used method in most parts of the world to supplement the water obtained from
other sources.
Rooftop harvesting system comprises of roof catchment, gutters, delivery pipes, filters and a storage tank.
