ABSTRACT
This study was an empirical analysis of the profitability analysis of the small-scale fish farming in Migori County. Profitability of fish farming has been a major concern in the country and this is a concern that needs attention through research to assess on the current profitability and suggest the findings to earning higher profits by the small-scale farmers in the study area. The objective of the study was therefore, to determine the factors affecting profitability of fish farming in the area.The study believed that small-scale fish farming was not profitable and there are no socio economic factors affecting fish farming. Primary data was collected from the study area and was supplemented by secondary data, which was obtained from research reports, government reports and district headquarters.The research study adopted a systematic sampling technique to pick the every fortieth respondent among two thousand, four hundred small-scale fish farmers giving 60 respondents (Nasuma, 2000) who were useful in provision of information for research work. Firsthand data and primary data type was collected using well semi-structured questionnaires that were administered to the small-scale maize farmers in Mbita sub-county. Structured questionnaires was administered to collect primary data from the small-scale fish farmers.
