Rubbing method

i) Place a small piece of white cotton fabric on a flat surface.

ii) Rub with pressure the coloured fabric ones with the white ones.
iii) Observe if the color rubs off on to the white fabric.
iv) Absence of color proves fastness.

Washing method

i) Wash a small piece sample in detergent water and observe the color of the solution.
ii) Rinse-observe in the water.
iii) Dry the sample.
iv) Compare it with the original fabric to see if the re is any color change.

- Pressing method.

i) Wet a part of the coloured fabric and place between two pieces of white fabric.
ii) Press with a hot iron.
iii) Observe color transfer on the white piece of fabric.
iv) Absence of color proves color fastness
