CHIMBUKO LA USHAIRI
Ushairi ni fani kongwe kama mwanadamu mwenyewe alivyo mkongwe duniani. Na mashairi yamekuwepo kitambo sana hata kabla ya lugha ya Kiswahili bado haijanawiri na kushamiri kama ilivyo hivi leo. Ndipo tunasikia kuna mashiri ya kipemba, mashairi ya kimvita, mashairi ya kivumba, mashairi ya kipate, mashairi ya kiyunani, ya kirumi na kadhalika,. Almradi kila jamii na kila kabila lilikuwa na mashairi yake.
Katika utafiti na kongomano zao, wataalam wa arudhi za Kiswahili asili wamechambua na kufafanua kwamba mashairi ya Kiswahili asili yake ni nyimbo za jadi zilizokuwa zikiimbwa na manju, wangoi au waimbaji stadi wa tangu na tangu walipojumuika katika matukio na hafla mbalimbali kama za jando, arusi, matanga, ngoma na shangwe zao za maishani.
Nyimbo hizi zilitumiwa na watangulizi wetu, kidhamira hazikuhitalafiana hata kidogo na mashairi ya Kiswahili tunayohimiza wakati huu. Farka iko katika lugha na umbo kwani kila jamii ilitumia lugha yake na lahaja ya mazingira yake. Na kwa upande wa umbo, tungo hizo za awali kabisa hazikuwa na sanaa kwa maana ya ushauri tunauona leo. Bali tungo hizo zilijengeka katika nguzo mbili kuu. Kwanza ni uzito wa mawazo maadilifu ambayo yalitaamaniwa sana. Na pili ni mizani ya sauti ya manju kulingana na lahani, pumzi zake pamoja na madoido katika uimbaji ambao ulikuwa burudani naathari katika noyo za wasikilizaji wake.
Kwa kifupi ni kwamba, nyimbo hizo ziliuhifaid umma kwa njia mbili, mawaidha kwa mapana na taathira au jadhba kutokana na sauti tamu ya manju.
Kama utakubalika, basi huo ndio ushairi wa awali kabisa ullioambatana na nyimbo zetu za kienyeji. Kila kabila katika nchi zetu lilikuwa na ushauri wake au nyimbo zake zenye undani uliolenga sababu maalum na tukio maalum katika jamii.
Nyimbo kama hizo kwa jina la sasa tunaweza kuita mashairi ndizo zile zilizoitwa ‘mwali’ na wakamba; gichandi kwa ‘wakikuyu’; ‘gigia gi sigele’ kwa waluo na ‘wagashe’ kwa wasukuma zilikuwa na undani wa kipekee tena uliodidimia ambao si bure kutolewa hadharani.
Aina za mashairi ya watu wa mwambao ni kama lelemama, misemele, gungu, nyiso, kongozi n.k.

Isitoshe, huenda wakati huo alikosana na mama na baba kulala nje. Huenda alikosana na ndugu zake kwa kuepa nyumbani usiku wa manane kwenda kumwona huyu kalameni. Huenda alikosana na mwalimu wake kwa sababu kiburi kilianza kuingia. Kwa vyovyote vile, alikula raha na hastahili kuwaadhibu watu wasio na hatia kufidia makosa yake. Je, kama yeye na huyo jamaa wasingekuwa na Ukimwi, raha kiasi gani wangezila hadi leo?
Jamii na watu wote kwa jumla hawana budi basi kulaani vitendo vya P.N. vya kuambukiza wanafunzi wenzake virusi huku akijua. Hili ni kosa ambalo linastahili adhabu ya kifo. Dawa ya moto ni moto ni adhabu inastahili kuchukuliwa haraka ili P.N. ambaye tayari amekiri hatia, atiwe nguvuni na adhabu itolewe.
Barua ya P.N. inafafanua jambo jingine sugu. Kwamba kiwango cha maadili katika vyuo vyetu kimezorota kiasi cha kufanyiana unyama usiosemeka. Vijana wengi siku hizi wanashiriki tendo la ndoa bila haya. Huu upotofu wa maadili katika jamii wapaswa kushutumiwa na wote. P.N. hana sababu yoyote ya kibinadamu, kidini au kitu chochote kile kudai haki kwa uovu huo wake.
