Below are some precautions to take against cyber crime.

1) Install a firewall to your network. This will keep unwanted traffic out of your network. Firewall prevent unpermitted access to your network keeping your data safe.
2) Check on your access allowed list. You should check on the list of computers allowed to access your network to remove any unwanted traffic. This will keep your network wary of any hacker attacks.
3) Change the default password of the security system. When you acquire a security system the immediate action to take is to change the default password. This will keep your data safe from hackers. Restrict the number of people who know the password.
4) In a corporation, you should clearly define the security roles and responsibilities. Set up a department that will specifically deal with the internet security. This will help keep the data of the company safe.
5) Establish guidelines on how your employees will use internet and social media. When the employees access the internet the company is vulnerable to internet hacker threats. The best thing to do is to clearly set a specific time in which the employees can access the internet. This will improve on security and keep the company''s data safe.
6) A firewall is essential to keeping unwanted traffic out. In addition to a firewall you should install a web filtering program. This
program will not allow access to potentially harmful sites. This will keep your data safe.
7) Using a general firewall for all the computers in a network may not be enough. It is important to use an internet security program on each individual computer. This will keep your data safe.
8) Take caution when dealing with peer-to-peer sites. These sites enable sharing of information of computers between different networks. A hacker from one network may use this

feature to steal information from another. Be wary of such sites.
9) It is important to store confidential data offline. Storing data online makes it readily available for retrieval and vulnerable to hacking. Keep important information in an external storage device and have a back up. This will keep your data away from cyber criminals.
10) Nowadays cyber crime has become widespread especially with companies losing their data. It is important to get cyber crime insurance. This will ensure you get compensated for any loss you incur because of cyber crime.
