1. Answer THREE questions only
2. Question ONE and TWO are compulsory
3. In question three choose only ONE of the optional texts you have prepared on.
4. Where a candidate presents work on more than one optional text, only the first one to appear will be marked
5. Each of your answers MUST not exceed 450 words.
This paper consists of 2 printed pages.

Answer Three questions Only.
1. Imaginative composition (compulsory) (20mks)
Either
a) Write a composition ending with the words;
“Indeed, life is a series of discoveries.”
Or
b) Write a story to illustrate the saying;
“Justice delayed is Justice denied.”
2. Drama (Compulsory) (20mks)
Henrik Ibsen, An Enemy of the People.
“The press has failed in its responsibility.” Drawing your illustrations from An Enemy of the
People write an essay in support of this statement.
3. The Optional Set Texts (20mks)
Answer any one of the following three questions.
Either
a) The Short Story.
Macmillan (Ed) Half a Day and Other Stories
With illustrations from Moyez G. Vassanji’s short story, “Breaking Loose, show how
Racism is a hindrance to mixed marriages.
Or
b) Drama
John Ruganda, Shreds of Tenderness.
Drawing illustrations from Shreds of Tenderness show how the playlight effectively uses
Aliusion and symbolism. (20mks)
Or The Novel
c) Velma Pollard, Homestretch
Write an essay on how homecoming benefits both man and society drawing your examples
from Velma Pollard’s Homestretch. (20mks)
