What are the three theoretical perspectives that gerontologists use in the studies of ageing? Explain the advantages and disadvantages of each perspective.

Explain three reasons why the study ageing is important.
Question Two
Compare and contrast the challenges facing the developed and developing countries as a result of the increase in the proportion and number of older people in their societies. What are the strategies that each society is making to these challenges?

Gerontologists distinguish two main causes of ageing: Intrinsic and Extrinsic ageing. Discuss.
(b)
Explain the term Rectangularization of the life-curve and link this term to compression morbidity hypothesis. What do these two concepts suggest about ageing in the future?

Explain the Kenya Government policy on ageing as contained in the development plans (from 2000-2007). Are there differences with what is advocated in the UNITED NATIONS Document on Global ageing concern?

How should the current Kenya Health Care system change to serve the future of an increasing number of older population?

Most government set up retirement benefit schemes to help retirees cope with their old age social economic situations. Explain how one can benefit by planning his/her retirement.
