paperwork” Give reasons for the statement above. (5 MARKS)
b) Explain three advantages and two disadvantages of using the following in business :

c) Explain the relevance of the following academic concepts:
I)) plagiarism
ii) Copyright
iii) in-text citation
iv) End-text citation
v) Referencing (5 MARKS)
d) Your company is trying to promote a range of inexpensive kitchen aids .Write a sales letter to
housewives in your area informing them about the products and telling them about special displays and
offers at local stores during the coming months. (10 Marks)

a) Explain the term “non verbal communication” and indicate with examples how oral communication
can be modified through non-verbal communication (10 MARKS)
b) What are the main characteristics of a properly organized and well-conducted interview and how

QUESTION FOUR
a)Prepare minutes for the first meeting of a Sub-committee comprising management and staff
representatives set up to advise the firm on the possible production (for issue to all new employees) of
a handbook covering conditions of service ,company rules, remuneration, absence and sickness
procedures, fringe benefits and other matters. The meeting dealt with (favorable) staff reactions to the
proposal and with ways and means of implementing it. (15 MARKS)
b) Define and describe three common note-making strategies. (5 MARKS)
QUESTION FIVE
a) You are an assistant to a Sales Manager whose staff is soon to be increased .To accommodate the
additional sales representatives and typists the office will require additional equipment and
reorganization. It is also not in a good state of decoration. Write a report in memorandum style to your
manager proposing the changes. (14 MARKS)
b) A ‘bibliography’, ‘appendix’ and ‘signature block’ often appears in written reports. Distinguish
them explain their what is their significance? (6 MARKS)
