a) Differentiate between fine grained and course grained parallelism with particular reference to the strength of each (4 Marks)
b) Describe parallel computing and explain any three complex problems/area that can benefit from it. (8 Marks)
c) A serial algorithm has been adopted to perform some automated processes at MUST examinations department and it is taking 1 minute 45 seconds to complete. Experiments performed by fourth years CS students has indicated that the same process can be done in parallel for 21 seconds while using 10 processors. Determine:
i) Speedup (1 Marks)
ii) Efficiency (2 Marks)
iii) Number of processors that would result to 100% efficiency (2 Marks)
iv) Three factors that may limit the speedup you have computed above (3 Marks)
